Vinyl Siding Cleaning Lexington KY

Vinyl siding has a tendency to get dirty and accumulate mildew, mold and algae in the humid climate of Lexington, KY. Quite often, from a distance, folks can't really see the mildew on the surface. It does, however, show as being slightly dull. A closer look at the vinyl will show that there is a light coat of spotty mildew on the surface. More prevalent on the north-northwest facing areas of the home. This is due to a lack of morning sun exposure allowing the nights dew deposit to stay wet longer. This is a good environment for the mildew to thrive.

Dirty vinyl siding
If left to continue to grow and spread, it will begin to build up to become more visible. This is at the point that  most folks begin to notice that there is an issue. Although the mildew was there all along, home owners generally don't address the problem until it has started to be an eyesore.

We have seen the mildew spread and then mold and algae start to grow. This is when you begin to see green patches of growth. For the most part, it isn't extremely harmful but harmful nonetheless. Folks with allergies can notice a difference in symptoms when the vinyl siding on their home is covered in these molds, mildews and algae. The best way to control molds indoors is to control the mold outdoors. Eventually the growth spreads under the vinyl siding and into the structure.

Cleaning vinyl siding is a great way to control the growth. However, the problem can become worse if improper methods are used to clean. Using Pressure Specific methods and equipment, is the answer. We strongly advise against using high pressure from a pressure washer. The high pressure can damage the vinyl. Worse, it can cause water intrusion behind the siding. This can cause more mold and rot to the structure.

Clean vinyl siding
You should clean the siding with a lower pressure washing method or hand clean with a sponge or brush. Along with a mix of bleach and good detergent, the vinyl siding can be washed safely.

While, we understand that most folks are very handy and can possibly clean their vinyl siding themselves, we do recommend hiring a professional. First, in order to reach all areas of the surface during a hand washing, a ladder would be required. Handling ladders near the homes exterior has many issues. Power lines, fragile glass windows and uneven flowerbeds are just a few hazards. Lets not forget the time commitment involved. Even a hard worker would spend a better part of a day washing his/her house.

A professional will know the correct pressure settings on their expensive pressure washing equipment to  wash vinyl siding safely. Applying professional, yet safe cleaning solutions, in an efficient manner hastens the chore along. Most times, the professional pressure washing contractor, can wash the vinyl siding while you are at work or taking care of other chores. Better yet, spending quality free time doing other enjoyable things.

First Choice Power Washing has been washing vinyl siding in Lexington KY safely with pressure specific methods for years. Calling a professional is an inexpensive alternative to spending a better part of your weekend trying to tackle this job.

The pressure washer (power washer) machine is the ideal way to clean large surfaces quickly and efficiently. It is much better than standard cleaning. It blasts the hard to reach areas. It also helps it to clean in a much better system. I like the pressure washer.
